SOME stores and banks will be closing for the last time from today – we reveal the full list.

Main Street has been hit hard in recent years as businesses have emerged from the coronavirus pandemic.

High inflation also raises energy and food costs, which means households are forced to shop less and cut back on trips out.

That’s bad news for retailers, as well as pubs and restaurants.

Dozens of shops, banks and pubs have closed this year, with more planned to close.

Here’s the full list of stores and banks closed this week.

The Farmfoods store in West Bromwich was closed yesterday, May 14.

The retailer has launched a huge sale with 50% off everything as shoppers look for a bargain.

The supermarket chain known for its frozen foods has around 300 stores across the UK.

B&M

B&M is closing and relocating Widnes stores this week.

The branch will close on May 17th and the new store will open on May 24th.

An earlier statement on the B&M website read: “Your B&M Widnes store is moving from its current location at Bowers Retail Park to its new home at Widnes Trade Park (Old Range).

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused while we bring you a bigger and better B&M store.”

New interface

New Look will close its branch at Newlands Shopping Center in Witham on May 18.

It comes after the retailer closed seven stores this year.

A New Look spokesperson said: “Our store in Witham will be closing May 18.

“We’re supporting our colleagues and we’re looking to get the team into local stores where possible.

“We are delighted to be part of the local community and would like to thank all of our customers for shopping with us.”

The Last Post Wetherspoons pub in Loughton, Essex, closed yesterday (May 14).

The chain has shut down 21 of its wines since they went up for sale.

Spoon boss Tim Martin says more people drink at home now than in pubs.

Lloyds

Lloyds will close two branches today (May 15).

Its branch in Lampeter, Wales, is pulling its shutters one last time.

Meanwhile, its branch in Wickersley, England, is also about to close.

Halifax

Halifax will close four branches this week.

Its Chingford branch will close today, while its Redruth branch will close May 16.

Two branches in Sheerness and Bletchley will close on May 18.

HSBC

HSBC will close five branches on May 16.

This includes its branches in Brighouse, Stroud, Whitby, Stamford and Halesowen.

TSB

TSB is pulling shutters on its branch in Aberfeldy, Scotland, on May 16.

Meanwhile, its branch in Pollock, Scotland, will close on May 17.

NatWest

NatWest will close three branches this week.

Its branch in Broadwater will close on May 16, while its branch in Colwyn Bay, Wales, will close on May 17.

Meanwhile, the third branch in Ilminster will close on May 18.
