Gang of Youths play acoustic show in Philadelphia after crew member suffers “serious electric shock”

The Gang of Youths North American tour in support of their latest album “Angel in Realtime” took them to Philadelphia last Thursday night (May 12), where a “serious electrical problem” caused the entire the band they had planned could not go ahead.

On the day of the performance, the band shared a statement on their social media explaining that one of their ensemble members received “severe electric shock” during sound checks at the venue, Living Arts Theater.

All ticket holders were given a refund, but instead of canceling the show altogether, they announced that host Dave Le’aupepe would be playing an acoustic set from the venue’s floor.

That evening, Le’aupepe played an acoustic set of 10 songs, accompanied by most songs by newest member Tom Hobden on violin. The set list includes ‘Angels in Real Time’ cutting ‘Angels of 8th Avenue’, ‘Brothers’ and ‘In Wake of Your Leave’, as well as several songs from ‘Go Farther in Lightness ‘ and Leonard Cohen’s cover of ‘Birds on a String’.
