She said: “When you bring your flowers home, it’s always good to take them straight from the water they arrive in.”

“Then cut the stems at 45-degree angles and place them in fresh cold water in a clean vase.”

Cutting the stems at this angle rather than straight across allows for a larger surface area and guarantees increased water absorption.

The stems of your flowers should be standing in fresh water to ensure they stay hydrated and protected from bacterial growth.

Gardening professional Lara then revealed to Mary which flowers last the longest.

She continued, “I would always say that one of the carnations lasts the longest.”

Carnations will keep in a vase for up to three weeks provided you protect them from direct sunlight and heat and refresh the water regularly.

This comes after a content creator demonstrates the small change that will kickstart your garden’s growth.

Elsewhere, a gardening expert revealed that she swears by a little-known tree that stays beautiful year-round and offers plenty of privacy from nosy neighbors.
