Gardening whizz shares cheap hack to make your own outdoor furniture – & you can do it for free

Buying patio furniture could be a thing of the past thanks to one smart woman’s trick.
After buying a two-bedroom house in need of a makeover, Maddie was short on cash for gardening — but she found a way to make her own stylish seating, and you can find the material for free.
young mom Maddie shared a video online to give others a step-by-step guide to DIY seating on a budget.
“Can’t you afford garden furniture like me?” she asks. “Look at that.”
Before the action begins, Maddie cocks her camera to show off her long green garden.
“I got some absolutely cheap pallets on Facebook Marketplace and also got a free one when B&Q dropped off the panels for me [daughter] Darcie’s Wendy house.”
Maddie shows a clip of the stacked wooden pallets and films herself deciding how to put them all together.
Instead of separate seating, she says she plans to build a long bench that sits by the fence and add colorful pillows to make it look super stylish.
“We build some benches out of wooden pallets. Basically, it costs a hell of a lot of money, and if you do it well, you’re on the winning side,” she says.
“We made three of these using two pallets at the bottom and one at the back.”
Maddie’s project only took a few hours and all she needed was a drill to nail the wooden pieces together.
The finished product looks amazing, but there’s just one thing missing.
Then Maddie reveals the perfect purchase to bring her new furniture to life.
“These cushions are £7 each or two for £12 at Asda,” she says, showing a selection of cushions lined up like a rainbow along the bench. “They’re called jumbo corduroy pillows.
“And since tomorrow is Darcey’s birthday party in the garden, I’ve got a big box full of blankets.”
Maddie renovated her two bedroom townhouse using her nifty DIY skills and her amazing hacks have garnered her 172,000 followers on TikTok.
Everyone is raving about her success with DIY seating and can’t wait to see what she does next.
They even have a few suggestions for the smart mom.
One user replied: “This is amazing. You could buy these giant dog beds as pillows to put on the pallets.”
A second suggested: “I’ve used crib mattresses on mine and it works great.”

And a third said: “My mum did just that. If possible, try gluing tiles to the tabletop and painting the chairs a matching color. It helps bring everything together.”
