Gavin and Stacey stars spark fake arguments as they reveal HUGE show secret
GAVIN and Stacey’s Pam and Mick Shipman have finally visited Essex for the first time.
Although the series is set in South Wales and Essex, Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb have revealed their Billericay scenes were all TV fakes.
The on-screen couple were often seen at their Essex home on the BBC show, which ran from 2007 to 2019.
However, it has now been revealed that the couple never visited Billericay, where their characters Pam and Mick were supposed to be from, during filming.
Larry told the Radio Times: “Gavin & Stacey were all filmed in Wales, no one offered us the opportunity to go to Essex.
“They said, ‘Billericay is where you come from,’ so we just kept going, we just do what we’re told.”
The couple will visit the city as part of their new show Alison & Larry: Billericay to Barry and will plant a tree in honor of their trip.
Larry added: “When we got there on this trip we were warmly welcomed.
“The councilors came and the mayor was there.”
While Alison said, “We planted a tree! Hopefully it survives.”
Alison and Larry’s travelogue follows them on the long drive with interesting stops between the two cities on a 200 mile journey in three episodes.
Larry explained: “It felt like an unfinished business, especially the way to Billericay.
“In Gavin & Stacey, Barry got a lot of attention and Billericay was the poor relative.
“Both have become such famous places.
“I thought it was a great idea and I couldn’t think of anyone other than Alison I’d like to do the trip with…well, probably one or two!”
It’s the first time the two have appeared on screen together since the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special in 2019.
And now that they’re reunited, Larry is excited to see how another season of Gavin & Stacey comes to fruition.
He concluded, “It’s like bringing the family back together, so absolutely yes to another.”
But an hour-long special, which means three weeks of really intense work, is enough for me.”
Alison & Larry: Billericay to Barry begins August 14 at 8 p.m. on Gold.

Roman sings in the choir
I CAN reveal that ITV ROMAN has booked KEMP for a second appearance as director of celebrity choral competition Britain Get Singing.
It follows shortly after that Capital FM DJ Roman launches his BBC daytime quiz show The Finish Line.
Last year Britain Get Singing saw stars from Love Island, Emmerdale and Loose Women compete to raise awareness of mental wellbeing.
A source said: “Britain Get Singing is now regarded as a jewel in ITV’s Christmas programme.
“Roman was thrilled to host again.
“He has spoken openly about health issues and is therefore overjoyed to support such a good cause with his work.”
Let’s hope crooner parents Martin and Shirlie Kemp can help out with the singing this year.
IS SAM TOP OF THE POTS?
Singer-turned-model-turned-singer Sam Fox has revealed taking part in Celebrity Masterchef was just as nerve-racking as her Top Of The Pops debut.
Later this week she will face off against drag artist Cheryl Hole, singer Jamelia, musician Locksmith and host Wynne Evans in the penultimate heats.
Sam said: “I had palpitations. I couldn’t believe I was on MasterChef, my favorite cooking show.
“I’ve been watching it for years and can’t believe I got to be a part of it.”
Sam, who sang her first top ten hit Touch Me (I Want To Feel Your Body) on the BBC chart show in 1986, added: “It’s a bit like when I first got on Top Of The Pops – this feeling that I’m doing a show that I love.
“I really want to learn more cooking skills and become a better chef.
“I’ve only cooked properly for my partner and now that I have my own family I’m always thinking about trying new things and teaching my son how to cook.”
“I want to learn more dishes, more flavors and what a way to learn! I’m in awe of (hosts) John Torode and Gregg Wallace.”
Celebrity Masterchef continues tomorrow at 9pm on BBC One.
MORAN IN DYER CUSTOMER. . .
Author Caroline Moran has revealed that she has created new BBC comedy ‘Henpocalypse’! with Danny Dyer in mind – and begged him to attend.
She said: “While I was writing the script, I knew it had to be him.
“I didn’t know him, I just emailed him begging him, basically, ‘I think you’re great, what do you think?'”
“He totally got it. He got in. It was just magical.”
Danny plays a “fictionalized and heightened version of himself” in the six-part, which follows a bridal shower derailed by the end of the world.
Played by Elizabeth Berrington, Callie Cooke, Kate O’Flynn, Lauren O’rourke and Lucie Shorthouse, the women are forced to face the apocalypse that is turning men into zombies with only their hen party paraphernalia.
Caroline adds, “Often a hen party will see you in a sweaty bar in a non-breathable, revealing outfit, wishing the world would end so the bachelorette would end too.
“There’s kind of a female version of Lord Of The Flies that can sometimes be staged.
“I’ve been toying with the idea, ‘What if you were at a bachelorette party that never ends?’ ”
Henpocalypse! starts next Tuesday at 10pm on BBC Two.
AINSLEY’S TABLE MANORS
AINSLEY HARRIOTT will provide a feast for all the senses with his new ITV show.
The popular TV chef will tour the stately homes of Britain and whip up delicious dishes from their kitchen gardens in Ainsley’s National Trust Cook Off.
He will get help from other well-known chefs.
At each estate, volunteers and gardeners will test his dishes.
Filming for the ten part series begins next Monday at the Blickling Estate in Aylsham, Norfolk.

Ainsley said: “The beautiful scenery, the freshest ingredients and some fantastic new recipes will come together to show our countryside at its finest.”
If only we had a sense of smell.
