When you’re a parent, or as I’ve been told you, there are some things that are easier to do when your kids are younger than when they’re a little older. Get more kids dressed appropriately (less than you, as a parent, fit with them) is one of those things.
Milwaukee Bucks striker Giannis Antetokounmpo, father of two boys under the age of 3, is right in the matching outfit window. He made the most of it to make sure the three matching olive green chest suits—and Brand new white Air Force 1 pairs — for two-year-old Liam and 10-month-old Maverick to wear to the premiere of the new Disney+ biopic Rise, based on the life of Antetokounmpo and his family’s path from Nigeria, to Greece, to the NBA. Showing off her teen outfits on Instagram, Antetokounmpo said with a grin: “Looks similar, doesn’t it?”
(Giannis’ partner Mariah Riddlesprigger didn’t wear the green suit to the premiere, but assumes the bar is already set up for any future family holiday cards.)
The Rise the premiere is, of course, a family affair: Mariah, plus Giannis, Liam, Mav, and their suits — all custom-made from Brown & Brown Clothiers, a bespoke clothing boutique based in in Baton Rouge, Louisiana — attended with three of Giannis’ five brothers, Thanasis, Kostas and Alex, as well as their mother, Vera Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo talks about fatherhood in GQ cover story last fall, marveling at the motherly power of Mariah and Vera. “Seeing what the body has to go through to bring this beautiful, sweet thing into the world, is crazy,” he said. “I was like, ‘Mom, you went through this for all of us? “” The pride of wearing the right clothes may seem like just the tip of the iceberg.
