A big win for Gleeks who don’t stop believing.
Six months after launching Netflix, Glee TVLine is known to return to streaming starting June 1 via Disney+ and Hulu. The move makes sense, considering Ryan Murphy’s musical animated film has become an official Disney property after Mickey Mouse’s acquisition Glee 20th Television producer).
June 1 is an accidental date, as it marks the launch of activities celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.
Glee premiered on Fox in 2009 and ran for six seasons.
Rumors of a reboot have heated up in recent years. Last fall, Fox’s president of entertainment, Michael Thorn, addressed the speculation, telling our sister pub Deadline that “We always welcome celebrating our iconic shows and watching back programs with surprising moves and new approaches, especially in this crowded market we are always ready to reinvent our best IP with some of our favorite partners I. “
Of course, with Friday’s news, any new iteration of Glee will likely land on Hulu or Disney+. A Disney representative declined to comment on the possibility of a revival/reboot.
