The stars watched a handful of shows including Welcome to Wrexham, Love & Death and Animals up Close With Bertie Gregory.

But it was particularly a show that touched the viewer’s heart.

In an episode of My Mum You Dad that aired on Wednesday, contestant Rodger shared his devastating story of becoming a widow.

During tonight’s episode of Gogglebox, cast members watched as Rodger broke down on his first date with fellow single Caroline and revealed that his wife of 30 years had died just 18 months earlier.

The postman explained that his former wife Joanne was diagnosed with melanoma four years after she successfully beat breast cancer.

She sadly died when the disease spread to her brain.

In her final moments, he described how she fell asleep on the sofa and “never woke up again.”

As they watched the heartbreaking clip, the Gogglebox cast burst into tears and not a single eye remained dry.

Moved by Rodger’s scene, an emotional Sue told her partner Steve: “Make hay while the damn sun shines because you don’t know what’s around the corner.”

The Shirley couple were left sobbing as David handed her a tissue to wipe the tears from her face.

Your Mum My Dad is a new ITV series about single parents who are nominated by their adult children to give love a second chance.

The dating show, titled Middle-Aged Love Island, launched on Monday and attracted a whopping 1.5 million viewers – the same as the Love Island finale this summer.
