Gucci Mane says Birdman inspired him to rap: he’s not a good rapper!!

Gucci Mane sat down with the New York Times and revealed which rappers inspired him to rap.

Gucci says he was inspired by a few not-so-good rappers…including Cash Money boss Birdman.

“When I started funding my first band of my own, maybe in 1999 or 2000, those were the main people I could relate to — BG, Project Pat. Okay, this guy just got out of prison, and everyone in the area sounds like it. I’m going through the same things at the same time,” Gucci said.

“I didn’t feel like Project Pat was the best rapper, but he made me feel like he was him. I guess I can’t be Fabolous or Lil Wayne but I can do it. I was late in the game but I didn’t have to be afraid to try. I was going to Daytona for spring break and that was all summer with Project Pat and Big Tymers. I started doing the stuff they rapped about… like, “I’ll be the CD I listen to.”

Gucci added: “That’s actually how it started. It wasn’t even a love of hip hop; I’m a hustler. I guess damn I really don’t want to sell drugs all the time. It’s too risky. If Jermaine Dupri can kick Kris Kross out, Birdman isn’t a very good rapper and I have some money…I can go with that.”

Do you all agree with Gucci’s opinion?
