HAIRY Bikers star Dave Myers has revealed he has returned to work amid his battle with cancer.
The 65-year-old TV chef credits his new sauerkraut diet for boosting his immune system, which includes fermented cabbage and other gut-friendly meals, to help him on the road to recovery.
“It’s incredible to be back. Every breath I take now is just refreshing and fabulous. “It really varies what food I’ve eaten,” he said.
“I’ll have to gain weight at some point, but I need things to boost my immune system.
“So I ate a lot of sauerkraut. It really works for me – sauerkraut, kimchi, and meatballs. I live by it. It is a probiotic, good for the immune system and ensures a regular diet. I love it. “It’s the healthy diet that creates it,” he told the Mirror.
Dave announced he will be back on screen very soon as the duo begin work on a brand new cooking series.
“We started filming again on a new TV series this week and it’s a big step back to normality and winning an award. I was diagnosed last March so it’s been over a year,” he continued.
“It’s still a work in progress and everything is going well. I’ll get there and I’ll be back on the bike.”
Discussing his ongoing recovery, Dave said he was doing “very well,” adding, “It’s so nice to be back.”
He appeared alongside his co-star Hairy Bikers Simon, who said, “He’s just as annoying, so it’s great.”
Dave continued: “It’s still a work in progress but I’ve got my hair back.
“It’s the healthy diet that makes it!”
In March, Dave spoke about his struggle with his brutal chemotherapy.
He said: “I still have it. I’ve lost so much weight it’s a calorie battle.
“Now I’ve gotten to the point where I have the weight I want and I want to maintain it.”
