Hall of Fame journalist on Ric Flair returning to the ring

It’s official. Ric Flair will be wrestling for the last time at the age of 73 for the Jim Crockett Promotion. The match will take place on July 31 at The Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee.

When the news first came out, the wrestling community was torn apart. As fans rejoiced to see the living legend in action once again, a certain section wondered if it was wise for him to enter the squared circle at his age.

Hall of Fame journalist Bill Apter is not a fan of the legend’s most recent decision. Sportskeeda senior editor told us why this isn’t the best option:

“I don’t want to see Ric Flair’s legendary status overshadowed. I’ve seen this with too many wrestlers and boxers. I mean I totally miss Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes and how Ali couldn’t express himself. acting like he did the latter part of his career. Not just the end.”

Apter also cites Flair’s recent health struggles as a reason for him not to enter the ring:

“Ric Flair is a man. I don’t know what he’s up to, but his health hasn’t been the best in the last few years and if I were Ric Flair, I’d leave my legacy behind. Woo. “

Ric Flair Trained With Jay Lethal

Jay Lethal has been extremely vocal about how big of a fan he is of Nature Boy. He also gave one of the most accurate impressions of a 16-time World Champion in wrestling. Many fans will remember the infamous ‘flirting’ the two had on the TNA show, which some believe Lethal won.

The fact that he is training with Flair before getting back in his ring says a lot about the friendship the two men share. One has to wonder if he will feature in the upcoming match.
