Harrison Ford Announces Indiana Jones 5 Release Date At Star Wars Celebration

Harrison Ford is no stranger to Star Wars or the annual celebration taking place in Anaheim, California right now, and made a surprise appearance at the Lucasfilm Showcase today, but this time he didn’t show up for a space adventure. Instead, he came to promote another Lucasfilm franchise called Indiana Jones, in which he stars, and dropped the big news of a 2023 release date for the next installment of movies.

Ford’s segment began with a musical introduction by longtime Star Wars and Indy composer John Williams (who celebrated his 90th birthday in February), who played him onstage. Ford spoke about working on the new Indian Jones film and how it was nearing completion. “I had a wonderful experience working with James Mangold,” Ford said, according to a Decider tweet. “I’m really proud of the film we made. So see you on campus.”

Before leaving the stage, Harrison Ford dropped possibly the biggest piece of information from today’s panel: Indiana Jones 5 will be Theatrical release on June 30, 2023. How about this for a final segment surprise?

For now, the Indy 5 storyline and title are under wraps, but the IMDB page for the film is full of exciting faces to join Harrison Ford on his next great adventure. The site lists Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Toby Jones, Shaunette Renée Wilson and more joining the cast.

Following the announcement, the folks behind Indiana Jones’ Twitter account posted the first image of the film, in which Jones crosses what appears to be an old, rickety bridge into a dark cave. Classic Indian.
