Harry Styles was hit in the face by an object during a concert in Vienna

Harry Styles was hit in the face by a thrown object during a live performance in Vienna over the weekend.

Footage released online from performance at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Austria on Saturday (June 8) shows the British pop star walking the stage before being hit near his eyes by a flying object.

Styles then winces in pain and his face is shown in his hands.

Myriam, a fan from Germany who attended the Vienna show, said the “As It Was” singer was hit after he performed his 2017 single “Sign Of The Times” at the beginning of the encore.

“He still touched his face often. It looked like it hurt a lot. It seemed like he had to collect himself, then he turned back to us and kept performing,” she said.

She said she was “devastated” to see the incident just meters away from her, adding, “I never want that to happen to him again. Because it’s happened too many times now.”

Styles representatives have been contacted for comment.

The 29-year-old singer has previously been hit by fans throwing objects on stage. He was hit in the face by a bouquet of flowers while performing in Cardiff last month.

This latest incident came shortly after several other pop singers were hit by objects thrown by onlookers.

Last month, pop star Bebe Rexha was hit in the face by a cell phone while performing in New York. A 27-year-old man was later arrested and charged with assault.

After the incident, the 33-year-old singer posted a selfie to her Instagram, which showed a large purple bruise on her eyelid and a stitching tape on her eyebrow.

Although the evening didn’t end as planned, she still praised the concert as “an amazing show in my hometown”.

Also in June, pop-rock singer Pink was shocked when a fan threw what she claimed was a bag of her mother’s ashes onto the stage.

A few days later, singer Ava Max said a suspected stage intruder slapped her “so hard” it scratched the inside of her eye during a show in Los Angeles, while country-pop singer Kelsea Ballerini was smacked in the face with a friendship bracelet hit was thrown by a fan during their concert in Idaho.

Adele spoke out against the trend of throwing objects on stage during a performance as part of her ongoing Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.

“Have you noticed how people are forgetting friggin’ show etiquette these days?” the Grammy-winning British singer asked her audience. “People just throwing shit on stage, did you see that?

She then joked, “I dare the fuck. You dare throw anything at me and I’ll fucking kill you.”
