HBO Max cancels an animated Batman series from J.J. Abrams

has swung the ax on another six animated projects, according to diversity. One of them is Batman: Caped Crusadera series produced by JJ Abrams, and Matt Reeves Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm. The show, which was a spiritual successor to Timm’s classic ’90s series.

Unlike some of the other shows and films HBO Max has been canning over the past few weeks, production on these projects is continuing. The production teams will find another home for them. The other projects in this demolition wave are Merry Little Batman, The Day the Earth Blow Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical, Did I Do That to the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story and The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie.

HBO Max prioritizes content for kids and families. There were dozens of shows last week, including several animated series. It also in an obvious move to save on royalties.
