“He is going to be their star player”

Former Premier League midfielder Stewart Robson believes Liverpool’s chances of beating Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final may depend on Jordan Henderson’s form tonight.

Jürgen Klopp’s team is playing their 63rd game of the season this weekend. They meet Real Madrid in the Champions League final at the Stade de France on Saturday.

Liverpool are aiming to win the competition for the seventh time in their history. Los Blancoson the other hand, will be determined to add another Champions League trophy to their cabinet having already won it 13 times.

Former players, pundits and fans have their say ahead of Saturday’s Champions League showdown between the two clubs. And Robson is now the last in line to look ahead to the Paris game.

The former Arsenal star believes Henderson could be the X factor for Liverpool against Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Robson believes anyone acting as a defensive midfielder should be on their guard for the Reds to win the game. He said on ESPN FC:

“I think for Liverpool their star has to be their midfielder who could be Henderson. He has many jobs to do in this holding role, so he will be their star player. If they’re going to win the game, he has to play well.”

Fabinho back in full training for #LFC today in a big boost ahead of the Champions League final. Thiago is not considered ready to commit just yet but has every chance to show his fitness by Saturday.

Whether Henderson will be used as number 6 in the Champions League final remains to be seen. Liverpool’s first-choice defensive midfielder Fabinho has returned to training after injury and could start on Saturday.

Robson chooses Real Madrid’s X-Factor against Liverpool

Robson was quick to name Karim Benzema as the X factor for Ancelotti’s side ahead of the Champions League final. The Englishman feels Los Blancos are not the same team if the Frenchman is not there. He said:

“The X-Factor, you can only talk about Benzema for Real Madrid because obviously he was their star player. If he hasn’t played then Real Madrid doesn’t look like they’re on the same page. He’s the player who will be relegated.” , he will connect the game, he will score goals, he will play small double wins with Vinicius Jr., he will also defend from the front. So obviously he’s going to be the star.”

Benzema has been in red-hot form for the La Liga champions this season. So far he has scored 44 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.
