SEATTLE — Green may be a color synonymous with the Christmas shopping season, but The Toy Insider wants people to consider some eco-friendly toy options when ticking off their gift lists.
Madeleine Buckley, senior editor of The Toy Insider, joined KING 5 to share suggestions for finding eco-friendly toys and also to celebrate some vintage toys.
Buckley says buying “green” toys doesn’t mean you’ll go bankrupt. There are toys that not only have sustainable materials, but also have packaging made from recycled materials.
Buckley looked at the eco-friendly aspects of a number of toys including classic games like chess and wooden dominoes. According to Buckley, some toys with sustainable materials are also STEM-focused or learning toys.
To rewind the past – Buckley says a popular toy this holiday season is the “Care-a-lot Bear” that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Care Bears toy.
Toys featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Koosh Flix Stix toys are also part of the top picks for classic recommendations for this festive season.
