Here’s how to get rid of lingering smells in your car in seconds using household product you already own

A GENIUS trick has promised to rid a car of lingering odors in seconds using a household product most already own.

The hack was shared by TikTok star Ceith Griffith in a video that garnered thousands of views.

Griffith explained that all it takes to prepare is a half-full bottle of water and a capful of fabric softener.

“Shake out the water and fabric softener and pop the bottle in the freezer for 24 hours,” he began.

“Take a knife and cut an ‘X’ into the top of the lid. After you cut an ‘X’ in the top of the lid, open it.”

He then advised drivers to leave the drink in a cup holder overnight.

“This will get rid of the cigarette smell in your vehicle. You’re welcome,” he said.

However, users were divided on the effectiveness of the hack.

“Any time it works I’ll do it over the summer,” wrote one fan.

“That worked great for the used car I bought.”

Some weren’t that impressed, with another person writing: “I tried it. Unfortunately didn’t work.”

Griffith’s method comes after an auto expert shared his top tips for saving on costly repairs.

Another veteran cleaner insisted a popular viral cleaning product had the ability to repair car scratches.
