Holiday warning as Italian restaurant charges couple for an extra TEASPOON so they can share their dessert

A COUPLE was horrified when an Italian restaurant charged them for using an extra teaspoon.
The couple ordered a Crema Catalana at a pizzeria near the town of Alba and decided to share dessert.
They asked the staff for an extra spoon so they could both eat.
But they were horrified when the bill came and they were charged for using the piece of cutlery.
The pair were slapped with a €1.50 (£1.30) surcharge for “due cucchiaini,” or two teaspoons, the reports telegraph.
This comes after another bar in Italy was criticized for charging a bizarre fee for customers who want to cut their sandwiches in half.
The posh eatery on the country’s exclusive Lake Como sparked outrage after announcing its new £1.70 editing fee.
A disgruntled customer shared a photo of the Bar Pace receipt online as evidence of the confusing charge.
It’s clear from the printout that the establishment had charged them £1.70 for the privilege of cutting their chic sarnie in two.
Listed as “diviso da meta”, it means “divided in half” in English.
The total price bumped the already expensive ‘Toast Vegetarico e Patatine’ (vegetable toast and chips) from £6.46 to a whopping £8.20.
The bar’s owner, who is not named, countered in Italian media by saying that “additional requests will incur costs”.
They explained: “If a customer asks me to make two portions of toast, I have to use two saucers and two napkins and go to the table with two hands.”
“It’s true that the customer is always right, but it’s also true that additional desires come at a cost.”
Meanwhile, at another Italian restaurant, a mother was stunned because she asked for an empty plate.
