Hotel worker reveals the dirtiest parts of the room – and it’s not the toilet

A HOTEL employee has revealed the dirtiest parts of hotel rooms, including one thing she claims is only cleaned once a year.

Some may assume that the toilet is the dirtiest part of a room, but they are often wrong as hotel bathrooms are usually scrubbed regularly by housekeeping staff.

However, there are other parts of your accommodation that are cleaned much less frequently.

Hotel employee Evangeline (@queenevangeline25) knows all too well which items aren’t as pristine as guests would like them to be, and said she even carries her own products just in case.

In a video on Tiktok, she pointed out the three main parts of a hotel room that she avoids when checking in.

First, she dodges the TV remote, which is operated by almost every guest who stays in the room.

She said: “I would never use the remote control without first wiping it down with my own Clorox wipes.

“Your purification and my purification are different purifications, do you feel me?”

Next on her list of things to avoid are the glasses in the hotel room, which Evangeline also said aren’t cleaned as thoroughly as she’d like.

She continued: “I would never use the glasses in the room – I’m not talking Styrofoam cups or paper cups – I’m talking about the glass jars that are there for you to use.

“I would never use them without washing them first.”

Finally, the item that Evangeline avoids the most is the bedspread, which she claims can sometimes only be washed once a year.

She explained: “I would never get comfortable on the bedspread or sit on the bedspread.

“The thing comes off the first minute I enter the hotel.

“These things don’t get washed that often.

“If it’s a proper bedspread, maybe these things get cleaned once a year. Don’t sit on it.”

Along with the three places mentioned by Evangeline, the carpet is often considered one of the dirtiest places in a hotel room.

Hotel expert Jacob Tomsky previously explained why you should never walk barefoot in your room, no matter how clean the floor looks.

Jacob, who worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years, told Sun Online Travel: “The dirtiest part of a hotel room is the carpets.

“Yes they will be vacuumed but they will almost never get a shampoo and deep cleaning as there are people in the rooms all the time.”

He added: “Carpets need a proper cleaning more than ever.

“There’s a high probability that there’s broken glass that people have broken glasses from too.”

Also, don’t worry about leaving the slippers behind – you can take them home as they cannot be reused.

Some people are so disgusted with hotel room floors that they go out of their way not to step on them.

For example, a woman became the target of fun on TikTok for allegedly being adept at using hotel towels.

In a video, the TikToker named Allison tried to show everyone what the small towel in a hotel was supposed to be used for.

Footage shows Allison unrolling her small towel in front of her hotel shower before spreading it out on the floor, ready to be placed on it after washing.

It is accompanied by the text: “You know what this towel is really for in hotels!

“Because who really walks barefoot on these floors???”

However, other users weren’t convinced that their makeshift bathmat was really a hidden trick.

One person argued, “It’s not a hack. That is its intended purpose. You learned it today.”
