Hotels filling up in Philadelphia ahead of Super Bowl 57 between Eagles and Chiefs in Phoenix

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The Super Bowl may be 2,500 miles from Philadelphia, but for those who can’t be in Phoenix, it’s the next best thing.
“There’s a lot of us in Virginia, I know we’re going to be up here,” said Greg Johnson, who visited Lincoln Financial Field on Monday. He wants to watch Sunday’s game in Philadelphia.
“Just the excitement and the thrill of it all, you know what I mean,” Johnson said.
The excitement for the game is felt from the hotels in the city.
“There’s definitely going to be a full hotel and area down here,” said Derek Beckman, general manager of the Courtyard Marriott at the Navy Yard.
Guests can view The Linc from the front doors of the hotel, and many people want to be close to the Eagles’ home when they can’t walk to the game.
“People will fly in just to be a part of that experience,” Beckman said.
The hotel is almost full before Sunday but they expect to be fully booked.
It’s the same story in Center City.
“We’re definitely seeing more people who are very excited to come down and really cheer for the Eagles,” said Hotel Palomar’s Ryan Sullivan.
The hotel is located on 17th Street just a few blocks from Broad Street. They are busy preparing for Sunday’s crowds after witnessing the excitement of the NFC victory.
“It’s like a marching band coming through the hotel with all the excitement that everyone has,” Sullivan said.
Most Center City hotels expect to be near full capacity by Sunday.
Airbnb is another popular option. About 400 to 500 apartments are available on Sunday, including 50 to 100 stays in Center City. The average price is $150 per night.
But they may not last much longer as some fans are making their way to Philadelphia.
