How to pre-order the Google Pixel 6a smartphone

Back in May, Google announced the Pixel 6a smartphone, the latest model in its mid-range phone line. It takes many design cues from the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, while packing a Tensor AI chip and pushing the price down to a more accessible $449. You might think that you have to sacrifice a lot when paying about half the price of other flagship phones for this device, but Google has actually tried to bring many premium features to the Pixel 6a. Also at I/O, Google announced the Pixel Buds Pro, its answer to Apple’s AirPods Pro and the company’s first earbuds to support active noise cancellation. So you can pre-order both the Google Pixel 6a and the Google Pixel Buds Pro.

The Google Pixel 6a is available for pre-order starting July 21 at 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET for $449 and will be available in bulk starting July 28. You can pick it up from the Google Store and other retailers like Amazon.

The Pixel 6a is Google’s latest mid-range phone, but just because it’s not a true flagship doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some of the features that the standard Pixel 6 offers. In fact, Google has adopted many things, including 5G support, the Titan M2 security chip, and the same Tensor SoC found in the Pixel 6 Pro. It also has an under-display fingerprint sensor and a USB-C port for charging, but unfortunately no headphone jack.

Camera-wise, the Pixel 6a has the recognizable camera bar that the rest of the Pixel 6 series has, along with a dual rear array that includes a 12-megapixel main shooter and an ultra-wide lens. It also has some of Google’s advanced camera features like Night Sight, Magic Eraser, and more. Overall, the design of the Pixel 6a is very similar to the others in the range, but it’s about the size of a Pixel 5 and has a 6.1-inch always-on touchscreen with a 60Hz refresh rate and HDR support . Google claims that the battery in the Pixel 6a lasts all day.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro will be available for pre-order starting July 21st for $199 and will be available in bulk starting July 28th. They will be available in red, green, blue and black. You can pick them up from the Google Store and other retailers like Wellbots who have discounted the pre-order price by $15 if you use the code 15ENGADGET at checkout.

The Pixel Buds Pro are the first Google designed to support ANC. The buds also have a new custom audio processor and a transparency mode, which should help you get into conversations without taking the buds out of your ears. Like many other earbuds in this price range, the Pixel Buds Pro can connect to more than one device at the same time, intelligently switching between, say, your phone when you need to take a call and music from your computer.

Google claims the Pixel Buds Pro get up to 11 hours of listening time on a single charge, or up to seven hours if you use ANC all the time. The company also said it will update the earbuds to support spatial audio later this year.
