TikTok has become a hub for storytelling on the internet.

There are a few differences to be made when adding a video from TikTok to your camera roll.

If the video is yours and you just want to download it to have a copy, the steps are simple:

  1. Open TikTok and click your profile page.
  2. Find and select the video you want to save.
  3. Click on the three dots at the bottom of the icon stack that appears next to the video.
  4. Press save video and allow the download.

Once this is done you will find the video safely stored on your reel.

If you want to save someone else’s video, the steps don’t change too much either.

  1. Find the video you want to save
  2. Click the arrow-shaped share icon on the right side of the video
  3. Press save video and allow the download.

TikTok makes it complicated (but not impossible) to save videos that aren’t yet visible to the world.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to save a draft directly to your camera roll without taking a few extra steps.

Here is the simplest alternative:

  1. Film and prepare the draft you want to save.
  2. Once you are on the post page, Select “Who can watch this video” setting and set it to “Just me.”
  3. Go to your profile page and click on the lock icon that represents private videos.
  4. Click on the three dots bottom of the page and press save video.

This remains the easiest way to save drafts until TikTok takes the step of allowing it natively in the app.
