Some browsers have built-in sync options that allow users to sync tabs and bookmarks with the same browser installed on different devices. However, those built-in sync options are not of much use to users who use alternative browsers on different PCs. For example, you can’t sync page tabs open in Chrome with Edge by selecting the Sync setting in Google’s top browser.
Tab Session Manager is a Chrome, Firefox, and Edge extension that allows users to synchronize groups of saved tabs between those browsers. This is how you can synchronize the open tabs in one browser with another using Tab Session Manager.
How to add Tab Session Manager to your browser
You can add Tab Session Manager to Chrome, Firefox, and Edge from that extension’s pages on the Microsoft, Chrome, and Firefox Browser Add-ons websites. Click on one of the Tab Session Manager links listed below to open the download page for your browser. Then press Add or Get buttons for extensions on those pages.
You can also add Google Chrome extensions to other Chromium-based browsers. As a result, the Tab Session Manager Chrome extension is compatible with Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi. Opera has the Install Chrome Extensions extension that allows you to install Chrome extensions in that browser.
How to save tab session in browser
Once you’ve added the Tab Session Manager to your browser, you need to save a tab session first for synchronization. Tab sessions are any number of web pages open in your browser at a particular time. To save tab sessions, launch the browser you added the Tab Session Manager to. Then, open a group of page tabs to save in the browser.
Then click Tab Session Manager in your browser’s URL toolbar. You will need to click Extensions in Chrome and Edge to select that add-on.
Your open tabs will save with the name of the selected page in your browser unless you change it. Click the text box at the bottom of the widget to enter a different name for the tab session. Then press Assist button shown below. The green session saved notifier will then flash briefly.
You can manually save any number of different groups of pages using Tab Session Manager. Double-click any of the saved tab groups listed in the extension to reopen all the pages they include in your browser. Once you’ve configured the extension to sync them, you’ll be able to access and open those saved browsing sessions in other browsers.
How to synchronize tab sessions between browsers
Tab Session Manager synchronizes saved tab sessions between browsers by backing them up to Google Drive. So you will need a Google Account to sync data. If you do not have such an account, you can set up one by clicking Create Account on the Google login page.
Once you have your account set up, you also need to enable cloud sync in the Session Manager tab as follows:
Open Tab Session Manager extension before clicking Setting at the top right of the widget.
Choose Save device name to session Selection. Once you’ve done that, type in your browser title Device name so you can better identify its saved tab sessions.
Scroll down Enable Cloud Sync (Beta) option above Setting navigation.
Click Sign in with Google and choose Allow options for requested permissions. Then enter the necessary login details for your Google Account.
After completing the steps above, click Allow to authorize Google Drive. As an optional step, you can choose Auto Sync check box below Turn on cloud sync Selection. Selecting that option will automatically sync sessions.
Once you have followed the above, click Tab Session Manager expand button on URL toolbar again. Then press Cloud sync button shown directly below.
You have now synchronized the tab sessions of a browser. You will need to repeat all the steps above for another web browser to sync its page tabs. You can then open all the same saved tab sessions in both browsers.
Synchronize saved tab sessions between browsers with tab session manager
Tab Session Manager will make your browsing sessions easily accessible across different browsers. With Tab Session Manager sync enabled, you can save and quickly reopen the same set of pages that you’re viewing in one web browser in another.
Such synchronization could be useful for users who use alternative Edge, Firefox and Chrome browsers on multiple PCs.
