TNT Sports is making history by offering an all-female soccer presenting team led by former talkSPORT star Laura Woods next season.

The broadcaster also wants to expand its coverage of England’s top flight as part of the next TV rights deal.

And stars like Rio Ferdinand and Peter Crouch will continue to provide valuable insight into live games.

However, a big face will not be there TNT Sports – despite being a key figure at BT Sport.

Former referee Peter Walton was regularly asked to give his opinion by match officials.

He would offer his views on controversial VAR decisions and other aspects of the various laws of the beautiful game.

But TNT Sports bosses have decided they can do without an in-studio referee.

And Walton is not part of the new team providing live football coverage to the general public this season.

Instead, TNT Sports is hoping to eventually broadcast live talks between referees and VAR wardens at Stockley Park, bringing a new dimension to TV viewers.

Managing Director Andrew Georgiou said: “TNT Sports will be a 100 per cent focused British brand and we promise to do ‘Right by the Fans’.”

“It will be different, new and bold when it comes to how we bring the sport to life on air, and our talent roster is a reflection of the brand – passionate and energetic.”

“We know that fans want humor and fun but also want to take the sport seriously and we have a team that we believe our viewers will be sympathetic to.”

“We need to know what packages, time slots and offers are included in the new contract because that is very important.

“But we have made it clear that we must maintain our position as the leading broadcaster.”
