Hundreds of Penn students evacuated after fire in University City

The fire broke out in a microwave oven on the third floor.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A fire forced the evacuation of hundreds of University of Pennsylvania students from their homes.

Action News was on the 38th and Chestnut in University City.

Smoke filled the lower floors of a high-rise building, triggering the fire alarm around 11:50 p.m. Sunday.

The fire broke out in a microwave oven on the third floor.

Authorities reported no injuries.
