I built a tiny home for just £70,000 and now use it as a side hustle to make thousands a month

A woman built a small house at the end of her yard and turned it into a “very lucrative” sideline.
Gill, a nearly retired Australian, has designed her own lovely house on wheels, which always fills up with people wanting a taste of tiny house living.
Close to the sea and surrounded by stunning vineyard scenery, Gill invested £70,000 to build a tiny house that he was able to rent out through AirBnb.
It has two bedrooms, a luxury kitchen, a terrace, a chill-out zone and incredible views of the coast.
“This is a very special place for me, it was my dream, it’s been my dream for years,” says Gil in an interview with Living Big In A Tiny House.
After working long hours at a stressful job, Gill wanted to slow down and make a plan for her retirement years.
It was there that the idea for an AirBnB came to her, just as she was watching the rise of the tiny house movement.
She said: “When you’re about 60 years old you’re like, ‘How am I going to live? What am I supposed to live on?’”
“I’m not an investor, but I really like buildings and I like designs, so that was something to be really excited about.”
The property now brings in a handsome profit for the owner, who describes it as a “very lucrative” part-time job for her.
Gill takes the viewer on a tour of her property, showcasing all the clever and unique home designs that have managed to fit everything a guest needs into the smallest of spaces.
It features stairs that slide into the wall, folding shutters for privacy in the bedroom, and a “cozy” loft that doubles as an extra bedroom.
Enthusiastic, she tells the interviewer, “When I got it, I was walking down the street and I was like, ‘I’ve fallen in love with something.'”
The Australian retiree calls it a “romantic” holiday destination for couples or anyone who wants to “try tiny home life”.
After renting it out for two years, Gill says she “loves” being an AirBnB host because you can share the space and wildlife with others.
She also likes to stay there when she has the opportunity.
“I feel like it’s a second home… It makes me happy.”
