I covered my entire body in tattoos and now my family won’t speak to me – trolls are cruel but I don’t care

A grandpa who has tattoos covering his entire body says he has no regrets despite being rejected by his family.

Peter Bridgens, 72, from Birmingham, has devoted two decades to his extreme transformation and says he wouldn’t change a thing.

The father-of-two began his edgy makeover while working for Birmingham City Council after years of putting aside his tattoo dreams.

The retired transport manager said he was inspired by his old neighbor and now has ink everywhere except the center of his face.

Unfortunately, his dream cost him his relationship with his family.

Peter said: “I live with my partner who has accepted me for who I am and I am very happy.

“I have no contact with my family. I was married for 41 years and have two children who have no contact with me.

“However, I have no regrets at all because I feel as good as I am today.”

Peter, who started the radical change at the age of 36, said he didn’t take the decision lightly.

“Tattoos have been something I’ve wanted to do since I was eight,” he said.

“I was fascinated by a neighbor who was heavily tattooed and I really liked his tattoos.

“Now I’m tattooed from head to toe.”

The grandfather of five has developed a thick skin and understands that not everyone will accept his tattoos, including his family.

“When my mother saw what I had done to my body, she went crazy,” he recalls.

“I got so many comments from people all over the world, but I don’t care anymore.”

Peter added: “The clearest comment I have ever received was from a friend of my mother’s.

“She said, ‘Oh Peter, your tattoos! What got into you to get her?’

“I told her I’m actually a tattooed man and haven’t really gotten her opinion of me.”

However, Peter has received positive feedback from some members of the public.

“I got a lot of compliments from people, that’s cool,” he said.

“It actually happens quite often that people come up to me to compliment me.”

Peter says he’s ultimately “satisfied” with its colorful design and might even consider coloring his face.

“I have absolutely no regrets and am happy with the way I look,” he said.
