I found a hidden room in my 1910 house – you can only access it from outside and it could have historical significance

A PAIR have revealed the strange discovery they made at their old home.
The homeowners showed their followers the hidden space under their house.
In her VideoTikTok user Staci Reafsnyder (@xoxostaciroberge) explained that the secret feature may go back further than the house itself.
She told viewers, “Our house was built in 1910, but the property dates back to the Underground Railroad era.”
The Underground Railroad refers to a network of secret routes used by many in the South during the Civil War to resist enslavement.
Staci’s husband could be seen crouching next to the couple’s home.

He leaned through what appeared to be a basement window, revealing the open space.
The small concrete area featured a small tunnel entrance blocked with bricks.
“We found a hidden room in our basement that can only be accessed from the outside,” Staci wrote in the clip’s caption.
She clarified, “You can only access this hidden room from this ‘window’.”
The homeowner explained that the window was boarded up when the property was first purchased.
Staci also revealed that there was no area in the house that suggested the room was an abandoned coal mine.
She explained that the area resembled a cistern used to store rainwater, but that this ancient element could already be found elsewhere in the basement.
One viewer suspected the strange feature was a subway tunnel.
Staci said: “Our coach house has a basement, they say it was used on the RR tube. We have not yet received the remaining property documents from the district.”
TikTok users took advantage of the comments section to share their thoughts on the hidden room.
“We have a room like this in our house, but it’s only accessible by climbing over a stone wall. I was always told it was a cistern,” wrote one follower.
Another person joked: “[It’s a] Murder room most commonly used for murdering people.”
