I got free money back from Disneyland Paris because I’m a Brit – here’s how you can too

DISNEYLAND Paris is magical. But with prices topping £2,000 for a family of four for a four-day holiday, this magic comes at a price.

But Disney fans across the UK have found a way to claim FREE money back from the dream holiday they are about to take Sting from the high price tag.

The SummerDisneyland Paris has partnered with the SkipTax app to allow UK guests to claim tax Tax Refunds for all purchases made in the parks.

This means that any toys, gifts or clothing purchased at the theme parks can be redeemed for taxes and duties Money The saved amount will be transferred directly to your bank account.

Disney fanatics have shared their experiences with the app and their savings in a closed Facebook group for Brits.

Deeanne Banks, from Plymouth, visited the resort in August this year with her husband and two children and was able to claim almost £60 back using the app.

She said: “I found out about SkipTax through a Disney group on Facebook which I joined to get tips and advice before our trip.”

“It was straightforward once you logged into the app. You will be asked which days you are staying Franceand it gives you one countdown until such time as you need to complete all your supporting documents.

“When you upload your receipts to the app, you simply take a screenshot and it will be counted for you and calculate how much tax you will get back.

“We spent around 500 euros on souvenirs and should get back 57 pounds, which we are happy with.”

“It was very easy to use and we would use it again.”

Guests who download the app can set up an account and use it to scan any purchase receipts.

You can then use the app to scan a barcode at the airport, train station or ferry terminal and the money is usually back in your account when you arrive home.

It’s not a well-known service, but it’s very useful and a great way to get money back from a trip.

Occasionally guests may be stopped at customs to double check their claims upon their return home.

“If you have receipts and merchandise ready for inspection, confirming your refund will not be a problem.

However, it should be borne in mind that all goods must be stored in one place.

Susan Good, from Essex, also visited Disneyland Paris in August and was able to claim £28 back despite being one of the unlucky ones to be stopped at customs.

She said: “At the French Eurostar station in Lille I had to present the receipts and all the goods so they could go through.”

“The staff was friendly and it didn’t feel awkward or anything. I would 100 percent use it again.”

Susan only downloaded the app the day before her visit after reading advice for other Disney fans on Facebook.

“I uploaded a total of seven receipts and spent around €220
“I managed to reclaim £28,” she said.

“If you follow exactly what’s on the screen, it’s actually very easy to understand.”

Other members of the group pointed out that merchandise was generally not allowed to be opened, but several guests were slapped for wearing purchased clothing or carrying toys.

One user commented: “I didn’t realize you shouldn’t open the articles.

“When I was stopped I was wearing my new Minnie Mouse top, but luckily they were friendly.”

Another said: “I’m very lucky I didn’t get stopped at customs because I had packed all my shopping in three different suitcases!”
