A mother has revealed that when she picks up her son from school, she hides in her car until the very last minute and then goes through the playground to get him, avoiding the other mothers.
Posting on TikTok under the username @nelleecila, the new mum from North London explained that she doesn’t bother getting to know the other parents, instead avoiding eye contact whenever possible.
She explained that she couldn’t think of anything worse than chatting with other parents.
For this reason, she will park as close to the school as possible to avoid conversations.
The mum shared her clip with the caption, “I’m sorry but you’ll never catch me standing around chatting with the other mums. I’m not that mom xo’
She said: “Sure I can’t be the only parent to do this but I will literally park right in front of the school on the lawn to wait for my son to come home from school.
“He comes out at 3:20 p.m., I will wait in the car until 3:20 p.m.
“I will then walk through the playground not acknowledging anyone or other parents.
“I’m going to get to the front of my line, grab my son and make my way back through the playground as fast as I can, only to get back in my car.
“Am I the problem?”
The woman’s video clearly shocked many as it quickly racked up a whopping 270.1k views.
It has 8,669 likes, 1,044 comments and 223 shares.
TikTok users were divided over the mum’s revelations – many said they do the same, while others said they enjoy chatting with other parents.
One person said: “Definitely in the same spirit sis. I don’t want to talk to anyone or make friends!”
Another added: “I get so judged at my daughter’s school for not being involved in the ‘click’ I speak to when spoken to, but generally I keep to myself.”
A third commented: “That’s me. I actually have no idea what some of these people have to talk about for hours every day before and after school???”
Meanwhile, one mum remarked, “Must be weird like saying hi and having a little chat,” to which the TikToker replied, “Ergh couldn’t think of anything worse.”
However, one person simply said, “Antisocial s*d,” to which the TikTok mom replied, “That’s my name, don’t wear it ✌🏼.”
While another parent wrote: “To each his own. I enjoy getting to know the other parents that my son will likely be in contact with through his school friends when he is older.”
Another agreed: “I try to make an effort for my kid to get invited to parties etc.”
