“I hope to convince him” – Francesco Totti admits he wants to lure Arsenal linked forward to Roma

AS Roma legend Francisco Totti has revealed he will be in talks with Arsenal to target Paulo Dybala in a bid to convince him to move to the Italian capital.

The Argentine player has expired his contract with Juventus. He said goodbye to fans of Bianconeri in his last game at the Allianz Stadium last week (May 16).

According to Tuttosport, several clubs are interested in signing Dybala, including Arsenal. However, Totti claims to be speaking to the former Palermo player about Roma’s interest.

While speaking to Sky Italia, the 2006 FIFA World Cup champion said (via HITC):

“We will see if we can get him to Rome. I will see him on Monday and I hope to convince him. We are in Milan for Eto’o’s match, we will play together and I will give him some advice. I’ll try to put something in his head, hopefully we’ll be successful. That is if Roma is in the same position as me.”

Dybala joined Juventus from Palermo in 2015 and has scored 115 goals and provided 48 assists in 292 appearances in all competitions for the club.

His stay in Turin saw him win 12 major titles, including four Scudetti in a row.

The 28-year-old has proven himself at the highest levels. His availability on a free transfer has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma.

Arsenal’s quest to sign Paulo Dybala could be complicated if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League

Arsenal are said to be leading the race to sign Dybala but will have to brush off interest from other potential rivals including city rivals Tottenham.

However, the Gunners have the odds piling up with them in the race for a fourth in the top four in the Premier League this season.

The Emirates Stadium team lost their advantage before losing to Spurs and Newcastle in the last two matches. They no longer hold their fate in their quest to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The advantage belongs to Tottenham and this advantage will most likely help the Lilywhites benefit in the race to sign Paulo Dybala. Spurs are currently 4th, 2 points ahead of Arsenal with just one game left.

The Argentina international could prioritize a move to a UEFA Champions League team. This is due to the levels he has been active in the past seven seasons.

It remains to be seen what the next step in Dybala’s career will look like, but the Premier League final day results could play a part in his next transfer window. “I hope to convince him” – Francesco Totti admits he wants to lure Arsenal linked forward to Roma
