I love having a weird name – my parents didn’t have one picked out so they impulsively named me after a bus route

The good news is that she’s never put the strange-sounding name to shame. In fact, she enjoyed its uniqueness.

That would explain why the TikToker (@dollopofyogurtt) quickly accepted the challenge when another TikToker asked:

“People with cool names, embroider this and tell me what your parents called you.”

The woman with the odd name replied excitedly, “I’ll win this, this is mine!”

While it wasn’t the first time the TikToker had shared the story, she was just as effusive in telling her followers about how she got her name.

“My name is Parnassus and if you know me you definitely know this story and you’ve heard it a billion times, but I don’t really care, I love it so I’ll tell it again.” .”

After the big reveal was over, she went on to explain how her parents pulled Parnassus out of the hat about naming their baby:

“So my parents thought I was going to be a boy, and then I was born, and I wasn’t a boy.”

With a strong expression on his face, Parnassus explained how the pressure on the new parents only increased:

“And at the hospital where I was born, you have to leave the hospital 24 hours after birth, so time passed,” she announced, her voice rising.

She explained that the nurses urged her parents to finally give her a name so the family could go with their little girl.

When her father took a stroll outside of the hospital amid the no-name-baby situation, a chance encounter resulted in the name that sealed the deal.

“The hospital was on a street called Parnassus Avenue, and the Parnassus Avenue bus goes past him, and he’s like a little Parnassus…that might be kinda cute,” she pointed out playfully.

The best part? Her mother agreed that the nickname should be like that.

“My mother says I love it,” said a wide-eyed Parnassus, who also liked that they stuck to the odd name.

“And here I am! Parnassus, the girl named after a bus.”

Many of her nearly 28,000 followers shared their own strange naming stories.

“LOL, same situation. My mom would watch soaps in the hospital room and decide, “Okay, Laiken sounds good.” And she wasn’t even a main character on the soap,” joked one follower.

“Haha, nice,” Parnassus replied, which she no doubt understood.

“Okay but my name is Crickett,” wrote another TikToker with a unique name.
