I made £265,000 last year selling tumblers on Etsy – I don’t have to post any orders and I can do it from my sofa

A WOMAN has revealed how she made a whopping £265,000 selling drinking glasses on Etsy last year.

Bailey, 38, a Florida mother of four, realized her family needed a little more cash when she was expecting her third child in January 2020.

At the time she was working in an email marketing position and was making an annual salary of US$55,000 (£42,000).

Bailey and her partner realized that it was not possible to pay for childcare with their current income and decided to take action.

Taking a leap of faith, she quit her job to start an Etsy shop called Bailey Designed Co and a website selling custom mug designs.

Although it started as a print-on-demand shop, today it only sells digital products.

On average, she brings in around $14,000 (£12,000) a month, and she also has a membership site that launched in 2022 and brings in $13,000 (£11,000) a month.

Last year it grossed $340,000 (£265,000).

To help her Etsy business grow, Bailey turned to YouTube for inspiration.

There she learned to use the Erank.com and Everbee.io browser extensions to discover trends before developing products.

These sites allow you to see the search volume on Etsy for a product, how many stores are selling the products, and what sales they are making.

In January 2022, she decided to only sell digital products, where the customer downloads the product themselves and she doesn’t need to stock inventory or ship orders.

Speak with Insider, Said Bailey, “I noticed that the designs for mugs were well received and there wasn’t much competition at the time. I’ve only found a handful of stores making up to 700 sales a day.

“For two months I spent every hour designing mugs. In March 2022, I hit $17,000 (£13,214) in sales, which was crazy to me.

“By June I had about 600 entries and I kept adding to them. My goal then was to add 20 a day. There are now around 3,600 designs in the store.”

Some clients asked her if she would sell all of her designs, so she started offering a subscription membership model.

She explained: “For $43 (£33) a month they get access to every digital design and everything new I release monthly, so still around 300 designs.”

It takes her five minutes to create a new design, and she uses Canva or Kittl to do it — and says these are perfect for people like her who are self-taught.

Their peak selling season is from October to January, with Halloween, Christmas and Mother’s Day being the main focus periods.

For those looking for help, Bailey offers a $297 (£230) course to help people who want to sell digital products without a design background.
