I made a major fashion faux pas at my first wedding – I had no idea my outfit was an issue until after the event

A young genius made a big mistake attending her first wedding.

Since she was not aware of the social rules of the time, she now looks back on her decision with some embarrassment.

TikToker Fae (@fae.x_) came across a video of a woman horrified at someone wearing white to a wedding.

She responded to the clip with a confession of her own.

“Okay, I grew up sheltered and didn’t know it was a rule,” she told the newspaper Videolaughs at her naivety.

“I didn’t know it was a faux pas. I just didn’t know you guys. I had never heard of this rule until my mid-20s.”

The soft-spoken brunette then shared an old photo of herself wearing a white dress.

With its layered floral embellishments, silk bow and dainty straps, one could easily assume this is a wedding dress.

She wore silver jewelry and wore her hair in tight curls.

“No, I’m not the bride. I just didn’t know, but now I know. “That was 2011,” she admitted, proving she’d changed since then.

Even though it’s been years since the incident, Fae still seems to look back on it with a joking expression.

She’s not the only guest to have made this disapproving decision.

A wedding planner named Sadie Lane (@_sadielane) said she took on the awkward task of kicking out a guest for wearing white.

Things got even more exciting when she learned that this guest at her own wedding had been extremely demanding.

At the time, Fae was younger and unfamiliar with society's rules about wearing white at a wedding
