A HOME renovation expert has made an unexpected find after gutting her fireplace to makeover the space.

During a home makeover, she revealed an even bigger discovery that left viewers confused as to what it actually was.

Charlotte Staerck (@rosemarydeerlodge) showed off her living space before the home improvement project in a TikTok post.

“This fireplace hides a secret,” says the text about it Videoand captures the sleek design of the stove.

She showed the fireplace in its current state – small, surrounded by dark red tiles and wood paneling framing it.

“Under that little one was a huge one,” she said.

The home improvement pro unveiled a huge fireplace after the smaller one was demolished.

She challenged viewers to guess why the fireplace was built that way.

“That’s because that room had a very important purpose,” she said. “Can you guess what it was?

“Answers on a postcard or the comments will suffice,” she said.

Several viewers shared their guesses in the video’s comments section.

“Yes it’s a kitchen fireplace that would have had a bread oven to take advantage of the alcove heat with a Woodburber/Cast Iron AGA range,” someone wrote.
