I saved £313 at M&S by stocking up on perfume dupes – they all cost less than £10

A SAVVY shopper saved £313 at Marks and Spencer by stocking up on perfume dupes rather than splashing money on the designer brands.

Scent dupes are trending, and while they might not be the original, perfume impersonators still pack a punch — and for a tenth of the price.

Brand critic Tilly Alexander searched Marks and Spencer for the best deals.

The multinational retailer offers a plethora of dupes, but the most coveted examples are Chanel No.5, YSL Black Opium and Lancôme La Vie Est Belle.

And for a 100ml bottle it costs £9.50.

Tilly set about setting the record straight by checking each dupe to see how closely they compared to the originals.

Chanel Scammer #5: Velvet Rose

Chanel No. 5 is the most famous perfume in the world, but M&S’s clone comes very close and is called Velvet Rose.

Tilly said: “Clean, soapy and definitely not stereotypically female, everything came to mind.

“Bold and fresh, but also like you’ve just washed the dishes with Fairy.

“Despite this dramatic price difference, M&S’s product captures the mood pretty well.”

At just £9.50 for 100ml, Velvet Rose is an impressive £116.50 cheaper than the real Chanel No.5.

Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Dupe: Pink Pepper

Lancôme’s famous La Vie Est Belle was copied using an imposter named Pink Pepper.

Tilly said: “The fragrance profile is described as floral, fruity and gourmand.

“There was a definitely sweet undertone of praline, vanilla and tonka bean and weaker notes of floral.

“The underlying cold pungency was unexpected but gave it added strength and flair.

“With that in mind, I can see why Marks and Spencer’s £9.50 pink pepper scent is considered a ‘dupe’.”

A bottle of Lancome La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum will set you back £97.20.

YSL Black Opium: Midnight Blossom dupe

YSL’s Black Opium Eau De Parfum Dupe is another best seller and it’s called Midnight Blossom.

Tilly said: “Even with just the tiniest spritz, the scent was unmistakably a deep, heady floral aroma.

“This one was warm, sensual and soothing, the kind that makes you feel like you’re wandering down a European cobblestone street by lamplight while jasmine blooms somewhere.”

Midnight Blossom by Marks and Spencer is £9.50 for 100ml compared to YSL at £108 for 90ml.
