I tan alone and thought I’d covered my whole back with sunscreen – my awkward tan line proved me so wrong

A tan summer look isn’t always easy to achieve, as one woman has revealed.

She claims that while sunbathing alone, she miscalculated how to apply sunscreen, resulting in an awkward tan.

Kirsten (@kindlykirstenn) shared a summer accident in a videotapes on TikTok.

“POV: You sunbathe alone and really think you’ve covered your entire back with sunscreen,” reads the text.

She filmed herself wrapped in a towel, showing off the results of sunbathing on her back.

She had an obvious sunburn with tan lines forming swirls on her back, possibly because she had trouble applying the sunscreen evenly.

A month later, Kirsten also filmed her in a tank top, showing the sunburn turning into an awkward tan.

“Had to work on that shoulder’s mobility,” she added in the caption.

The video has attracted many viewers to share their thoughts in the comments section.

“Try it with the back of your hand,” one person wrote.

“This is what happened to me,” added another. “I got a sunburn, now it’s turning tan. It’s been about three weeks. When does the tan really go away?”

“This happened to me,” a third commented.

“Did anyone else see the first bird on her back?” someone else wrote.

This video is part of a trend of people sharing their summer activities.

With sunshine and hot weather, many people look no further than their own backyard to catch some rays.

However, tanning comes with risks, and uneven application of sunscreen can lead to an unwanted tan.
