I transformed my privacy fence with a £5 Wilko household item and it looks great… but people are divided

A CREATIVE interior designer remodeled their fence using a £5 product, but not everyone is convinced of its effectiveness.

Alex Alvey shared the hack, which involved dipping a microfiber dust mitt the color of the fence, on TikTok.

He said the result was that the fence could be covered in paint within a short period of time.

“I wish I had tried sooner,” he wrote.

“All you need is a dish mitt, a microfiber dusting mitt, and your fence paint.

“I managed to finish 5 rows in half an hour and it covers as well as a brush.”

The product in question is a Wilko 2-in-1 microfibre car wash mitt which retails for just £5.

However, critics said the unusual method was a quick way to notch the odd shard.

“The amount of paint that’s wasted and the fact that you’re going to get a serious chip,” wrote one user.

“All I can feel is splinters in my hand,” added another.

Alex said he avoided this by wearing a rubber glove under the glove.

Others were quick to point out that a sprayer could be “much quicker and easier.”

“One will be shocked to realize that there are so-called sprayers,” they wrote.

The creative gardening method wasn’t the only one of its kind, as another man shared how to plant new plants when they are at their most delicate.
