I transformed my privacy fence with a £5 Wilko household item and it looks great… but people are divided

Alex Alvey shared the hack, which involved him dipping a microfiber dusting glove in fence paint, on TikTok.

The result, he said, is that it’s possible to coat the fence with paint in a short amount of time.

“Wish I had tried this sooner,” he wrote.

“All you need is a laundry glove, a microfiber duster, and paint your fence.

“Managed to finish 5 sheets in half an hour and it covers as good as a paintbrush.”

The product in question is the Wilko 2-in-1 Microfiber Car Wash Glove which retails for just £5.

However, critics say this unusual method is a quick way to cut off a splint or two.

“Wasted amount of paint and you’ll literally end up with a serious crumb,” one user wrote.

“All I can feel are crumbs in my hand,” another added.

Alex said he avoided this by wearing a rubber glove underneath the glove.

Others are quick to point out that sprayers can be “much faster and easier”.

They wrote: “You will be shocked to realize there are such things as aerosols.
