Her father Alan, 54, and brother John, 18, solemnly escorted her out of her black Volvo before she appeared on the red carpet.

Abi, who bought the £50 plywood coffin online, said of the stunt at Trinity Academy in Thorne, Doncaster: “Everybody was cheering, shouting and clapping. They were all enchanted.

“My teachers said it was amazing, they had never seen anything like it and it would go down in history.

“I never wanted to fit in. I always want to go beyond the framework and go beyond the norm.

“I always wanted to stand out from the crowd and never wanted to follow the crowd.

“My all-time favorite movie is Lost Boys so I love the vampire aesthetic.

“I’ve had a lot of people come up to me at the prom and tell me it was amazing. Someone said if there was an award for best entry I would have won it.

“People who come to me at the start of the prom want to take a picture with me.”
