I visited Matalan for their closing down sale and was stunned to find dream wedding dress for £8

MATALAN is currently holding a big sale after one of its branches was announced will close permanently this month.

The popular fashion retailer, which operates 250 stores nationwide, announced that its clearance store in Renfrew will be closing.

The retail giant is pulling the plug on its Blythswood Retail Park branch by the end of September.

That’s why Matalan has launched a massive clearance sale on all items – with already reduced items reduced even further.

I visited the Renfrew branch to see what fashion essentials were available at great prices.

And I wasn’t disappointed – some household essentials are available for just 50p.

And there are plenty of perfect pieces for parents looking to get ready for the festive season.

But what I thought was one of the best finds was a wedding guest’s dream dress.

The store is currently selling a floral ruffle midi dress for just £8.

Be Beau’s stunning dress is a beautiful mix of florals in red, blue and black with hints of purple.

It also features chic ruffle details and puffed sleeves with the ideal amount of stretch.

And it’s available at a bargain price of £8, which is almost 75% off its original price of £30.

The dress would be perfect for anyone who has an upcoming wedding.

Several other dresses were also on sale, including two sparkly midi dresses in black and gold.

One has vertical thin gold thread stripes and a strappy V-neckline.

That’s just £8 off the original price of £27.

The other model has a ruffled scoop neckline and off-the-shoulder sleeves.

It is also black with horizontal gold thread stripes that sparkle in the light.

It’s also available for £10, down £34.

Meanwhile, customers were able to snap up a giant black bamboo-framed mirror for just £14.

Part of the store’s Ibiza trend, the mirror features a loop at the top for easy hanging.

It has a classic round shape and is finished with a sturdy and attractive frame – making it the perfect item to brighten up your interior.

If you’re looking for a bargain, you’ll have to be quick because the store will close for the last time on September 30th.

Announcing the sad news, Matalan staff said last month: “As many of you may have heard, the Matalan Clearance Store here in Renfrew will be closing.”

“Our last day will be Saturday September 30th.

“We would like to thank you all for your trust over the years and hope to see many of you in store before we close.”

Shoppers were left “heartbroken” over the shocking closure and took to social media with a flood of comments.

One wrote: “It’s such a shame to lose this store. We’ve gotten a lot of great bargains over the years.”

Another said: “Except. I went there every few weeks and picked up some great things.”

A third added: “I’m heartbroken.”

Retailers have been struggling since the pandemic as shoppers cut spending due to staggering inflation.

Rising energy costs and the shift to online shopping are also taking their toll and many high street stores are struggling to keep running.
