I was a flight attendant before Love Island – from First Class romps to flying poo & flirty celebs, it was pure carnage

Being a stewardess, flying around the world in first class sounds like the most glamorous job in the world.

But Love Island star Laura Anderson has revealed this couldn’t be further from the truth.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Laura, 33, has revealed some very salacious secrets and sickening passenger stories from her 10 years as a flight attendant for XL Airlines, Qantas and Emirates.

The reality TV star – who recently started dating Gary Lucy after meeting on Celebs Go Dating – also tells us how she once accidentally stood up Twilight star Kellan Lutz…

sex on the seats

Laura started her first training as a stewardess at 17, working for the now defunct XL Airlines for a few years, flying from Glasgow before joining Qantas from London Heathrow.

She began working Friday and Saturday nights on the short-haul flights to Ibiza, which she recalls being “carnage”.

Laura says: “People just didn’t want to sit down, they just wanted to party from the start.

“I once saw a girl with a blanket straddle a man while we landed.

“At first we laughed, but then I had to pat her on the head under the covers, like, ‘Excuse me, you have to sit in your own seat, I don’t even want to see what you’re doing under there or people would open hit you

But surprisingly, Laura says that on long-haul Emirates flights – where she worked for eight years before Love Island – passengers get into even more mischief than us Brits in the first-class lounge.

She says: “This lounge is carnage and you wouldn’t even think about it because you think people with business class would be really demanding.

“But I literally saw people gathering in front of me in the lounge.

“I was on an overnight flight and there was a woman and a man who boarded the flight separately and then left together. They literally fell in love before my eyes.

“I remember they started kissing right in front of me, and I was like, ‘You can’t do that!'”

“We’re pretty lucky in the UK,” she adds. “People are pretty good at their hygiene, pretty civilized, but sometimes the craziest things happen in certain places.

“It was like people had never been on an airplane before.”

Cooking fish on the plane

Laura recalls one Emirates flight where a man stood by the door next to her jumpseat, “pulled his pants down and went to the bathroom.”

While on a 14-hour flight to Toronto, “everything went wrong” and someone vomited in their folding seat because of the turbulence.

But it was on a flight to Indonesia that she experienced something very strange.

She recalls, “I said to the crew, ‘Are we serving fish? I can smell fish really strong. So I went down the booth and checked everyone, and this woman had a hotplate – no exaggeration – that cooked a whole fish.

“I don’t know how she got it on the plane, but I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing? You can’t cook your own food’ and she was like, ‘Can you cook it for me?’”

We landed and there was shit all over the mirror, walls and toilet

But that has nothing to do with the moment Laura landed in Ibiza after a 10-hour flight from Dubai.

She says: “We went to the toilet and I’m not even kidding, there was shit all over the mirror, the walls, the toilet.

“We just walked in and we all laughed and cried because we had to clean it up.

“So now I can tell you it’s not glamorous. You have to get on your hands and knees a lot and clean and stuff like that!”

How to join the Mile High Club

When it comes to the Mile High Club, Laura says there was always chatter among the crew about first-class passengers showering together.

She says: “It actually said on the door that two inmates were allowed in the spa shower, so sometimes we’d hear gossip from first class about a celebrity like, ‘Oh, we saw so-and-so used the bathroom together is, wonder what they’re doing.'”

But, says Laura, it’s easy to get away with it even when you’re thrifty.

“Honestly, I was so busy, so we didn’t care anyway, we said ‘Have fun!’

“It’s not a problem for the crew because that’s just how we are, if it’s not a safety thing and there’s no dying involved, we don’t care.

“Everyone thinks the crew is after you if you do that, but literally nobody cares!”

Drunk and messy

During her time as a cabin crew member, Laura visited some very glamorous destinations around the world including Los Angeles, Dubai and Toronto.

But she had to deal with many drunk men staring at her in the First Class Lounge.

“As a Brit, I was always put in the lounge because they said, ‘You can handle drunk people, you like to drink’.

“These flights were so long that people would get drunk, get sober, get drunk again, and sometimes the guys just didn’t want to go.

“They stood there and talked to you, literally spat peanuts in your face just because they were so drunk, leaned over the bar, talked to you, and you lie to them and just say you can’t give them your number. “

“I Raised a Movie Star”

However, the number of one person she got was Twilight star Kellan Lutz, and she even ended up asking him out on a date.

“That was always my claim to fame,” says Laura. “Kellan Lutz was once a passenger on my LA flight.

“I said, ‘Oh my god, he’s absolutely gorgeous,’ but I just acted really cool.

“Then we just chatted a lot on the flight and he gave me his damn number.

“I came back to the hotel, we talked all night and we said we would meet in Venice Beach the next day.

“But the thing is — and this is so bad — because of the jet lag, I was up all night and then I would fall asleep in the morning and I’d slept all day, waking up to all these messages from him like, ‘Aren’t you coming?’

“I looked at the clock and it was six o’clock at night!

“He’s probably never gotten up before and all my buddies were like, ‘You suck. You could have hooked up with Kellan Lutz!’”

Kellan isn’t the only celeb Laura has rubbed shoulders with during her stint as cabin crew.

She says: “Nothing crazy happened but I had Channing Tatum on a flight. He just looks like a normal guy and he’s not that tall either.

“I also had an example. He gave us all tickets for his concert and I didn’t go. I felt really bad. He was lovely.”
