I was completely baffled after finding 6ft pole cemented into my driveway – no one knows how it got there

A homeowner was stunned to find a 6-foot post set in concrete in her driveway.

The bizarre object sent New Zealander Sophie Hucker on a wild hunt without anyone claiming the metal stick.

The mystery began on Tuesday when the woman returned home from a day of class to find the plastic-wrapped eyesore blocking her parking space.

She told the Bay of Plenty Times, “I thought maybe the neighbors might have ordered something — maybe it’s a post for a basketball hoop.”

However, when the Tauranga woman tried to move it, the pole would not move.

She added, “I saw it and said, ‘Oh shit,’ it’s cemented in.”

Sophie’s next guess was that her neighbor could have ordered a carport built and the handyman got the wrong house.

She also reportedly contacted Tauranga City Council, who were unaware of the matter.

To no avail, she decided to leave a note on the pole that read, “I have no idea what this does – please call me.”

She added: “I have no answers.

“My current conclusion is that some trades made a big bang and then just let it go, which is annoying and random.”

“It’s not even round to swing around.”

While the pole doesn’t completely block the entrance to her home, Sophie admitted she was distressed by the unwanted object.

She has since taken to Facebook to see if locals could shed some light.

However, it only sparked a lighthearted debate.

“Have you called Pole-Ice,” said one Facebook user.

“I find this post offensive. Can you please remove it,” added one.

Despite the jokes, Sophie begged the original gift deliverer to take the pole back.

She said: “You’ve given everyone a lot of entertainment but can you please come and get rid of it?”

“I don’t need this pole.”
