In a clip posted on the radio Twitter account, he admitted that he “never won anything” before telling Hattie his intentions.

John explains that his wife, Anita, tragically passed away six years ago and that he could never afford to buy a stone for her grave.

He visits her weekly to order fresh flowers but is trying to save up to buy the memorial he feels she deserves.

The pensioner added that the only thing he had ever won was “the love of a lovely woman”, which brought Hattie to tears.

In the video, John says: “I’m going to buy a stele for my late wife’s grave. I lost her 6 years ago.

“When you’re a retiree, it takes a long time to save money for today’s things.”

In response, Hattie, who was clearly moved by his story, said: “When you visit your late wife Anita on Saturday at the cemetery, you have some good news to share with her. that.

“You’ve just won £105,000 and you’ll be able to put her a well-deserved gravestone.”

Stunned, John joked, “I need five minutes before I can go anywhere! My legs are shaking, I’m shaking all over the place.

“Well, I said I never won anything, I won the love of a lovely lady.”

He ended by thanking Hattie enthusiastically, adding: “You don’t know what it means.”

It comes after a woman who won the Euromillions jackpot at the age of 17 revealed she still hasn’t spent her winnings ten years later.
