I’m a body positivity influencer – I love flaunting my curves and I don’t do it for the likes from men

WHEN she started creating content for social media, Karly Polkosnik had no intention of becoming a body positivity influencer.
Now at the age of 26, Karly flaunts her curves in sexy lingerie and encourages other women to do the same.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Karly, from Canada, said she’s been an influencer for nearly a decade, having started as a traditional blogger in high school.
Back then, she was a professional cheerleader and used the platform to blog about her experiences during her gap year.
Then along came TikTok, the biggest social media app, and her life changed.
After uploading a satirical video about her intended immigration to the US, the young woman suddenly became an internet sensation, gaining a whopping 50,000 followers overnight.
At the time, she said, she was posting dance content, lip syncing content, various story times, and there wasn’t much about body positivity.
Then, one day, she uploaded a clip of herself wearing a crop top and sweatpants, and comments abounded about how others had never seen her body type on TikTok.
It was kind of a “lucky coincidence” for her, because while she recognized that she existed in a “bigger body,” that was never her goal when she first took to social media.
That one video, she now says, made her realize how desperate people are for this type of content.
“Additionally, one of the main reasons I think it’s important to produce body-positive content is because of its impact on youth,” she added, explaining that comparing it to the unrealistic images on the internet often leads to eating disorders.
“Having access to content from people who exist healthy in larger bodies without attempting suicide in order to be ‘socially acceptable’ is helping to dismantle traditional standards of beauty and curb harmful eating disorders block by block.

For adults, Karly creates the content to help them unlearn the harmful ideals they were taught before the rise of social media.
“At the end of the day, this type of content helps people love themselves, which in turn helps them live full and happy lives.
Now Karly is working to show off the perfect curves she’s proud of by rocking sexy lingerie sets and cute outfits that make her feel her best.
And word of the word seems to have spread as the 26-year-old receives hundreds of DMs [Direct Messages] from people who thank her.
For the first time in years, they finally feel empowered to wear tiny shorts, crop tops and dresses; something they once avoided.
Another thing about Karly is setting up thirst traps – after all, if you’ve got it, flaunt it.
She insisted: “I don’t post lingerie or crop top photos for other people in the spirit of validation or attention, and especially not for men, as I’ve recently come out as a lesbian and am very happy with my girlfriend.
“I’m posting them because I know I have amazing boobs and I wanted to give the world a little taste of it on a Tuesday afternoon,” the woman giggled.

For Karly, beauty means anything, but what matters most is what’s inside.
You could have the most symmetrical face, one that meets all beauty standards, but if “personality sucks” then heart “ugly”.
