I’m a car cleaning expert – horrible smells hide in these often forgotten places… how to banish them for FREE

A car cleaning expert has discovered where bad smells are in your engine – and how you can get rid of them for free.

Nooks and crannies loved by festering grottoes include the undersides of cup holders, ashtrays, shifters, and handbrake gaiters.

Other culprits include door panels, center consoles and dashboards.

All areas can be difficult to reach, but you can combat this with a number of options.

Many cup holders have rubber mats on the bottom. You can take these out and soak them in water if they are particularly dirty and it won’t cost you a dime.

Some ashtrays are also removable, so do the same with them.

For everything else, a microfiber cloth and a cleaning solution are sufficient.

Spray your cleaning liquid directly onto the cloth and get to work.

However, try to avoid letting the cleaner touch the windows.

If this happens, wipe it with a clean cloth or use a separate glass cleaner.
