DRIVERS are realizing this “obvious” tip to save time and money when filling up at the gas station.
A car expert has offered some golden advice on filling up when you’re in a hurry.
Graham Conway, auto expert at Select Car Leasing, pointed out that many drivers don’t realize how far gas hoses reach.
Attempting to park next to a pump on the side of your tank can result in queues and wasted time.
The autogenius told it Express: “But there is a solution – and it’s irritatingly obvious to those drivers who have gotten used to it – because you can use any fuel pump, whether the nozzle is on the left or right.” It’s like a gas station superpower!
“The hose that attaches to the nozzle extends when you pull it away from the pump.
“That means you can easily go to the opposite side of your car and fill up from there.”
However, he reminded the British to leave enough space for other motorists to pass.
The motor guru also pointed out a helpful fact that could save your car’s paintwork.
“Drivers need to know that this fuel residue can be incredibly damaging to paintwork, especially around the gas cap area,” he said.
“Gasoline can be more corrosive than diesel and over time these drips can strip the paintwork of its protective clear coat.
“If you’re a dribbler, it’s wise to have a rag handy to wipe off excess fuel before it can do any damage.”
