“Cleanfluencer” Danielle says efficiency is the key to success

She admits that cleaning your entire house at once is a lot of work — but that it can be done if you’re efficient.

Danielle, who lives in north-east England with her husband Peter, their daughter Evie and their son Isaac, says: “Set a timer and set yourself a time during the day when you clean.

“Don’t think about it until then. Once you start, don’t get distracted.”

Here Danielle reveals how she does it all in just 60 minutes…

Before you start…

Start cleaning in the morning as you have the most energy and motivation

  • Morning cleanse is best as it gives you the most energy and motivation. Have a cup of tea before you start so you’re not tempted to interrupt the cleanse to have a drink.
  • Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting grubby in is essential. Set your phone to Do Not Disturb mode and create a cleaning playlist of songs that make you happy.
  • Start at the bottom, where you spend the most time—and is probably the most messy—then work your way up.
  • Have an empty laundry basket handy so you can collect clutter as you walk, instead of constantly running up and down the stairs.
  • Kids need to be busy getting things done, so put on a movie or let them play.
  • Set a timer for each room and when the time is up, move on.

Kitchen – clean the oven while you sleep (10 minutes)

The night before, give yourself a head start by making a solution of 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup white vinegar, and 1/2 cup baking soda.

Coat the inside of the oven with it (avoid heating elements) and only rinse out with soapy water the next day.

Next, clean and put away all your dirty plates, cups, pots and pans.

Throw your tea towels in the dishwasher to save time sanitizing them.

Wipe down the surfaces and the hob.

Bicarb and Lemon is a great solution for removing water stains from faucets and stainless steel.

If you don’t have time to mop your kitchen floor, use the vacuum to pick up dirt.

You can also use it to remove crumbs in closets.

Run the vacuum’s brush attachment up and down blinds – it removes dust really quickly.

Living Room – Vacuum Pillow (10 minutes)

Danielle says she always vacuums last “because you want to get any bits that might have gotten onto the carpet when you dusted.”

Tidy up clutter by putting it in your laundry basket to put away later and put dirty cups or plates in the kitchen.

Flap sofa cushions, then shake and fold blankets or throws.

Prefer dusting coffee tables to remove drip marks from mugs.

Banish all pets to another room while cleaning the furniture and use rubber gloves to wipe their hair off the furniture.

Before vacuuming, shake baking soda on the carpet to remove any trapped odors or dirt.

Open the windows to let in some fresh air, then vacuum.

Don’t forget baseboards and behind sofas.

I always vacuum last because you want to get any bits that might have gotten onto the carpet when dusting.

Bathroom – Vinegar on shower glass (15 minutes)

When you take it off the next day while cleaning, give the head a quick wipe and it should sparkle.

You can also wipe away water stains and dirt around the sink with toothpaste and a damp cloth while brushing your teeth in the morning.

Spray the sink and bath or shower with bathroom cleaner, then let it sit for a few minutes while you do everything else.

Always wear gloves for the toilet.

I start by cleaning the outside of the tank and finish with the rim of the toilet so I don’t spread the germs, and rinse the sponge often.

Clearwater swabs the shower screen with a solution—50 percent water and 50 percent white vinegar. Spray, wipe with a wet sponge, repeat and rinse with warm water.

Clean the bath and shower as soon as the jet has had its effect.

Then, if you can change the setting to hard surfaces, vacuum the floor quickly and clean with wipes or a cloth.

Finally, replace the towels to keep everything looking clean and fresh.

Children’s room – play outside (10 minutes)

When the kids are around, engage them by motivating them with specific tasks

Storing toys in storage boxes or cabinets makes an instant impression.

When the kids are around, engage them by motivating them with specific tasks.

You could give them 60 seconds to put away their books, make their bed, or match their weird socks.

Let your children play on a leaf.

After that, if you want to collect their toys, collect them all on the sheet and put them in a toy box.

If you have toddlers, quickly wash their plastic toys by putting them all in the dishwasher.

Get kids to use an eraser to remove crayons or dirty stains from the walls.
When you’re making the beds, don’t be afraid to check underneath!

Master bedroom – tuck the duvet into the bed frame (10 minutes)

First, declutter by putting loose clothing in the laundry basket.

Next, transform the room by making the bed.

Make sure you plump your pillows and give the comforter a good shake to give it some shape and air it out.

A bed always looks tidier with a throw.

I like to tuck my sheets into the sides of the bed frame.

It takes seconds but makes a world of difference if you just drape the duvet over the sides.

If you need to change your bedding, a top tip is to fold the sets into the matching duvet cover.

It takes up less storage space and means they’re all together when you want to switch them, saving time.

Open the windows to let fresh air circulate.

If your windows or mirrors need to be stained, just adding a squirt of dishwashing liquid to the water will suffice.

If you have time, wipe down the surfaces.

And don’t forget to vacuum the floor.

Vacuum the stairs quickly as they are heavily worn.

Wipe down railings, any obvious fingerprints on doors or walls, and any particularly dirty baseboards.

These little things can make a big difference in how you feel about your home.

Finally, grab your laundry basket and put everything back where it belongs.

Then you’re done – and you’ve earned another cup of tea.
