I’m a dentist & can guarantee you’ve been brushing your teeth at the wrong time of day, everyone makes the same mistake

Keeping your teeth clean and healthy is a pretty easy concept right?
You brush and floss twice a day, see your dentist occasionally, and maybe cut down on sugar, simple.
Not quite, one dentist is arguing that the number of times you brush your teeth makes a difference.
Dr. Surina Sehgal shares two things she would never do as a dentist.
“There are two things I would never do as a dentist,” she said in a video on TikTok.
Not only is it important to brush your teeth at the right time, Surina argues, but your actions afterward can make your brushing less effective.
She claims that she will never “brush after breakfast and rinse after brushing.”
“Never !!” Surina added.
Dr Sehgal Sehgal’s video has gone viral with over 3.6 million views.
Many people cannot understand the idea of not brushing their teeth after breakfast in the morning.
One user said: “Why not brush my teeth after breakfast, I don’t want to spend the whole day with food in my teeth… And I want to have fresh breath…”

Another user asked: “Are you telling me I have to eat breakfast with my mouth full of toothpaste?”
“Am I the only one who brushes my teeth before breakfast?” another asked.
But it seems the mouthwash advice confuses people even more.
One user said: “Each tube of toothpaste says ‘Wash it well’… I agree with that, why would I want to ingest tons of fluoride.”
The dentist replied, “All toothpastes will say spit do not rinse x.”
But people have no idea that they will continue rinsing after brushing their teeth.
One user said: “Nobody/nothing in this world can stop me from rinsing my mouth after brushing.”

Another user said: ‘I use a 500ml glass of water to rinse my mouth after brushing my teeth.
“I don’t spend all day with toothpaste in my mouth,” protested a third viewer.
