I’m a DIY fan – there’s a 80p tool to protect your carpets when painting, it’s dead simple

A DIY enthusiast has discovered an easy way to protect your carpets while painting, and you only need one tool to do it.
The method is foolproof as it protects the fibers of your carpet down to the roots.
The DIY fan named “Paint Warrior” online, shared his hack in a TikTok video.
He said: “Someone asked how to protect the carpet when painting.”
First you want to get some masking tape, but instead of masking the carpet like you normally would, you’ll be masking the carpet but also the corners of your baseboards.
“Get some roll-up masking tape and tape it to the baseboard wall at a slight angle.”
With a putty knife, the painter clamps the adhesive tape attached to the wall into the cracks between the molding and the skirting board.
You can buy a pack of putty knives for as little as £2.30.
And you have the added benefit of being able to use the putty knife for other DIY jobs as well.
He said, “And then just pin it down the trailing edge.”
The varnish expert said this method is foolproof because it protects your carpet’s fibers to the roots, not just the top.

“When you paint, it prevents loose fibers from the carpet from mixing with the paint.”
You should make sure your putty knife is clean before attempting the trick.
And when you’re done, be sure to pull up the tape to avoid damaging your carp fibers.
The Mal hack garnered over 228,000 views.
Viewers were amazed they had never heard of the hack.
One user said, “After all the times I’ve struggled, where have you been?!”
Another said: “I wish I had seen this before I painted an entire room.”
A third viewer claimed: “I did this after seeing this. It was brilliant. Not a single drop of color on my carpet.”

A fourth user said, “Nice tip.”
